In 1920, Mazda began in Hiroshima Japan. However, the company was not named Mazda yet. The company was originally called Toyo Cork Kogyo Company. In the late 1920’s, the company had to be saved from bankruptcy, but it has only looked forward ever since. In the 1930’s, Toyo Kogyo produced weapons for the Japanese army during the World War Two. Finally, in 1984, the company’s name was changed to the name we all recognize today, Mazda.
